“Integrating Waste Management Systems in Tourism Sector for Sustainable Regional Development”
Aim:
The project aims to support the sustainable development of Kvemo Kartli region through enhancing the resilience of self-governments’ and promoting civic-engagement in waste management policy-making and implementation in the tourism context.
Specific objectives:
To empower local CSOs, enterprises involved in tourism sector and media with a comprehensive understanding of waste management system and relevant policy developments;
To enquire them with advocacy skills and civic engagement mechanisms;
To strengthen self-governments' capacity to promote public participation in decision-making;
To develop a communication strategy for municipalities, commercial sector and citizens for efficient implementation regional development strategies and fulfillment of GEO-EU AA commitments;
To develop a tailored communication strategy and action plan for promoting integrated waste management system in tourism sector in Kvemo Kartli;
To raise awareness of tourism service providers and advise them on implementing modern and sustainable waste management systems;
To facilitate coordination between tourism service providers and contacts with private sector organizations and local governments Raised capacities will be one of the main results achieved.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustain able regional cooperation in Central Europe.
